The Ensign Foundation touched the lives of thousands of people in need in the Philippines. 

This December, volunteers from Bandera, Flagstone, Milestone and the Service Center joined in for another successful mission trip to the Philippines. Over 700 patients were seen and provided medical and dental services during the 2 medical missions held in Bacolod and Sagay City. Medical supplies and equipments were donated to a rural hospital and to the City Health Office. 

Food, clothes, dental supplies, hygiene products and toys were delivered to those who live in the remote and rural villages. Over 1200 pounds of rice, 1600 cans of sardines and boxes of noodles were distributed to the indigent members of the society. 

Computers were donated to public schools and community centers to assist in the development and education of the students and the community members.

On the morning of March 18th, 2012, VWAM sent 8 patients to Hue Central Hospital in one of our vans. Our driver knows what to do, and one of our interpreters is in Hue waiting for them. Each patient was given funds to get the process started, and tomorrow or Wednesday Chinh will settle up their bill for hospitalization, surgeries, meds, etc. and do any follow-up as needed. At A Luoi District Hospital, over the last three days, we’ve sent almost 40 patients to them for lab work, x-rays, and ultrasounds.

In the Hue group was a five year-old boy who will have a life-changing heart operation funded by the Ensign Foundation. Another woman has Beriberi and is in danger of dying, so her trip will be a life-saver. There was a Thyroid procedure, gallstones and gall bladder surgeries, two hernia operations and what looks like a cardiac evaluation. Again most of this was funded by the Ensign Foundation and the remainder by team members!
